it doesnt have to be a joint name it can be single however it is better to have joint names but if not available then single.

Why not? A UK driving license is an identity document and the license holder is required by law to have the correct address noted on the license.

The question is not weather it should be identity document or not.

Question is related to SET(M) documents which are used to suggest marriage is subsisting like joint bank statements ect.

Op is not asking to use this as identity document.I think

SET(M) Section 10 wrote:Note 8 We need 6 letters or other documents addressed to you jointly or in both your names. If you do not have enough items in your joint names, you may also provide items addressed to each of you individually if they show the same address for both of you. Examples of acceptable letters and documents are listed below.

Also, the SET(M) form clearly states that the documents listed are only examples of acceptable documents ... and not an exhaustive list.

In absence of 6 documents in joint names and/or from the examples quoted in the form, every applicant must use their judgement to ascertain whether an alternate document can be used as acceptable documentary evidence to prove cohabitation.

A UK driving license is issued by a govt. body, issued on submission of address proof, and requires that changes to address be notified to the issuing body. So as long as the date of issue falls within the 2 year qualifying period, I believe one may use it as evidence to prove cohabitation.

The question is not weather it should be identity document or not.

While I applaud your enthusiasm in the cheerful manner you go about dispensing your advice on this forum, my suggestion to you:

1. Good idea to run your posts through spellchecker before posting on the forum (e.g. it's "whether" and not "weather") as your high quality "Pakinglish" may be beyond the comprehension of some of the ordinary mortals used to reading plain and simple English on this forum.

2. Your faux pas (which you confidently try to pass off as advice) are, perhaps, now reaching endemic proportions....so, may be, a good idea to put a rider therein that such advice is, at best, your own personal advice.

3. I am assuming after reading some of your previous posts that you are based in Pakistan. Please be advised that the stated position in law (esp. Immigration Law) may be slightly different in the UK from what you perceive it to be sitting in Pakistan.
