hi everyone,
I came into the country as a minor, been here 12years.born by a british citizen (british citizenship by birth). Fortunately/Unfortunately i was born in 1982 outside the UK.My mom tried applying for my naturalisation like about 10years ago but we was told cos i am over the age of 18 i do not qualify for that. i was sent a set (O) form by the HO then to fill which i did i was later told i filled in the wrong form, then i was also advised by the HO to apply for a right of abode which i did, the HO ask for my Birth certificate which should be return within 21 days. The so call solicitor i had then had misplaced my original BC, i had to send the photocopy and a sworn affidavit which was rejected by the HO (in the year 2002). but had no conclusion on my case. In 2004 HO sent another set(o) form which i filled and i never heard anything from them again for another 5-6years.In 2009 June i made a fresh application set (o) form (under other purposes/reasons not covered by other application forms). Between Jan/feb 2010 the HO requested for extra copies of my Passpost pictures which i have sent and still have not heard anything from them.
I am just wondering how long it takes to hear from the HO in regards to such application. I am of good character, with a Bsc hons, no crime charges/records. Mom supposes me financially which i find a bit frustrating and demoralising.

Thanks

Who was the British citizen parent? Your father or mother?
If it was your father, then were your parents married at the time of your birth or afterwards?
If it was your mother, then see also Can I register as a British citizen if I was born before 1983 to a British mother?

If you are entitled to register, then there is no need to wait. Unless you prefer to be British otherwise than by descent via naturalisation.

For £80, it's worth trying. Your current immigration status is not relevant to the application.
