Hi
My husband is applying for ILR in Jan 2011. We will have by that time 18 months of pay slips each. Do we need to provide a letter from our employers stating that we are working and that our jobs are permanent. Do you think this will be necessary? Many thanks.

You don't need an employer's letter. The pay slips will be enough. Include P60's if you have them...you only need 6 months pay slips max, not the full 18 months.

depends on the catagory...if a WP or t2- sponsored worker, a letter from employer will be required stating that his/her services will be comtinuing with the company...example section 9B and 9P of the form Set (O)

Thanks Markie...I'd already skimmed through Jules' previous posts so knew it referred to spouse. Good point though.

I've asked this exact question in another post, but had no replies which confirm for me exactly what I need to provide. I'm also applying for SET(M) based on the fact that I've completed 2 years as an Unmarried Partner/Spouse of a British citizen. As I'm applying as my husband's spouse and not in a PBS category, is it necessary for me to submit my P60s and an employment letter? I'll have payslips and bank statements etc and all the addressed docs that are needed, as well as my marriage cert and both our passports and LITUK test pass. I'm just stuck on this one point of the P60s and employer letter for my application.
It seems from the posts above that I don't need to submit these, is that right? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Unless applying for settlement under Tier 2 / WP immigration category, a letter from employer - stating that the applicant is required for employment in the foreseeable future - is not a mandatory requirement.
Good if you can arrange it but if you don't it will not lead to refusal of a settlement application as a spouse of a settled person / British citizen.
e.g. - unemployed / not working spouses or partners are equally entitled to settlement after completing the 2 years residential qualifying period.
