Switching to dependant for my wife ( who is on Tier 2 )

Hi, My wife has a Tier 2 visa for another 1 year, but she needs to become my dependant ( probationary period ), as i am applying for ILR next month. Telephonic enquiry said that she cannot apply at the same time as I apply for ILR. But she can immediately apply in a few days to switch to a dependant visa. Is that true ?
