Cancelling Appoitment

Hi,
When you make an online booking and email sent to confirm your booking ref number then you make another one closer to home at a later date do you need to cancel the original appoitment set?
Reason I ask is last time I called they told me they dont have any information on their system to give me so any point in waiting 30-60 to cancel when they have nothing on the system they said just turn up on the day with that email.
