Does one need to be employed during time of applying for ILR

Dear All,
My situation is as below
Date of First Work Permit Granted : Jan 2006
Subsequent Switch to Tier 1 Migrant : Nov 2008
I was working until Dec 2010 and was made redundant in the new year. I can see I am eligible for ILR having completed 5 years on a combo of WP and Tier 1, however in the application form there is a section which asks whether I am currently working, I havent found a job yet so wasnt sure whether if I submit my ILR I will be rejected on grounds that I am not currently working and hence a potential can claim benefits once on ILR?
Additionally do we need to show sufficient funds on the bank when applying for ILR?
Regarding documents I have all P60s except for 2005-2006 and also dont have pay slips for the period Jan06-Apr06 will this affect my application?
Your advice will be greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance
Best Regards
Pras

For Tier 1 there is no requirement for one to be in employement all the time. But You need to be economically active . There is no clear definition of economic active..
if you have decent savings (would help but not mandatory) and can show that you are trying to get another job then you should be ok. it might take longer but i think you would be ok.
dont lie on application form, declare that you are currently unemployed and give them all documents.

But you stated in your
other post that you are employed.

Yes that is correct. ALL of us(7 directors) are EMPLOYED by the company and have contracts of employment.
Does this help?

Well, then you are employed. And the following statement that you made earlier doesn't fit in, in context:

Decide on one - you are either employed or unemployed. You cannot be both at the same time.
If employed - fine.
If unemployed - should be fine too, as has been mentioned above by xyz123.

well, I guess the "Present tense" is causing the confusion.
I should have said
ALL of us(7 directors) WERE employed until 31st Dec 2010) as employees of the company.
So I am unemployed from the new year and was an employee and a director before the new year and hence I had asked the question whether it was OK to be unemployed during filing of ILR
I was employed then I wouldnt have raised the question at all.
hope this make sense and apologies for any confusion

Unfortunately, the responses are based on the information you provide. And since I noticed a discrepancy in your statements I highlighted the same.
As long as you are accurate in assessing where you stand, it is fine.

Hi,
I am applying for my ILR in July. I am in the UK on hsmp (aug 2006) and got extension under hsmp JR in aug 2008.
However during my 5 yr stay, I had been out of employement on 3 occasions:
Jan 2007-April2007
Aug 2008-Dec2008
Oct2009-Jan2010
Since Jan 2010, I am employed. Will these emplyment gaps have impact on my ILR. I have not taken any benefits. I fall under hsmp JR category for 5 year ILR (pre nov 2006).
please advise.
