Applied for ILR got refused.......need help

Hello Everyone,
One of my friends stayed here in the UK for 14 years legally + illegally.....He has not got any ties with anyone in his home country....All his brothers and sisters are in this country......last year on December 2010 he applied for Indefinite Leave to Remain......his application got refused because he could not provide enough evidence that he stayed here in the UK for 14 years.......the reason he could not provide enough evidence of his stay in th UK because he lost his passport.......the passport had his Date of Entry into this country.......my friend requested the Home Office for a Right of Appeal against the decision given to him......now the Home Office have called him for an interview with them.......
My first question is that will my friend be detained by the UKBA and sent back home?
My second question is why has the Home Office called him for an interview?
And my last question is what kind of questions could he face during the interview?
