hi all, my husband is currently applying for ilr. i am somewhat confused as to what the cover letter has to include..i remember the cover letters used in spouse visa, they were basically talking through the application and supporting docs. is this the same? like personal statement saying how you can both support eachother financially etc?

Or is it just to clarify any items you feel you have to explain further?

Thankyou all.

When I applied my ILR ( Set M ) couple of weeks ago i did not use any cover letter etc , but when i applied for my spouse visa 2 years ago in Croydon then i used a cover letter along with monthly budget. are you applying by post or in person?

You don't need to submit a cover letter for a SET(M) application, unless your husband is applying in person and you're unable to accompany him.
In which case you would need to explain your absence in writing.

THank-you both for your replies. We are applying by post. Would I need a monthly budget? I did for spouse visa.

I wanted to use cover letter as...My husband is contracted at 12hours per week but does overtime most of the time. And I am on maternity leave meaning my wage slips contain 0.00 as I was on maternity allowance not statutory pay...so I wanted a letter explaining this...any suggestions.
