Forwardever, Have you been living in UK for the last 3 years and married to British citizen, if so you can apply straight away. I can not give you guarantee either NCS or post is fast route, at the end both routes end up in huge waiting list . I sent mine through NCS 4 weeks ago and still has to be allocated to case worker. Any ways i have my passport with me that is the beauty of applying through NCS.

Initially my plans was also to travel to EU with my family on British passport but looks like I have to delay as HO has doubled the waiting time nor Naturalisation

You have to send your original passport with the naturalisation application if using postal route to check ILR entry ext dates etc. i will suggest you to contact local NCS and send it through them so at least you can keep your passport and join the waiting club. :)
