Brief overview

I came in UK as student in August 2005, completed my degree in 2006. Currently I am living in UK under Tier 1 (General) category. In November 2007 I got work permit from a company for 5 years with expiry date October 2012. I worked in that company for almost 2.5 years and then I changed my visa category from work permit holder to Tier 1 (General) in May 2009 with expiry date May 2012 as I wanted to switch my employer.

My 5 years completes under mixture of two following categories in October 2012.

1. Work Permit Holder
2. Tier 1 (General)

To complete these 5 years I need to extend my Tier 1 (General) visa in May 2012. After my extension I need to apply for ILR in October 2012.
Can you please guide me what rules will be applied on and if any of the rules have been changed or if they have announced to make any changes in near future and if they will affect me or if I need to take care of anything.

Information about Dependant:

My wife joined me in UK in October 2009 under work permit dependant but then we changed her category to Tier 1 (general dependant) category as mine was changed. Her current visa is also expiring in May 2012 so she will be applying for extension along with me.

Dependent Children:

My wife is pregnant and baby is due in November 2011, do I need to be aware of anything?

Please reply me back I will be very great full to you.
