Economically Active at time of application?

Experts.
At the time of application for ILR (currently Tier 1 General), do I actually need to be employed, or is it sufficient to have satisfied the earnings requirements for 12 of the previous 15 months? There's a chance I will be made redundant a few months before I am eligible to apply, but I will have earnt enough points to quality, just that I may not be employed.
