ILR and Employment Question

Hi
My wife is Pakistani and is in the UK on a settlement VISA. She cam in December 2010 and the visa expires February 2013.
My question is how important is my employment for ILR application in February 2013??
The reason why I am asking is that I may be made redundant or out of employment soon - if this happens of course I will try and find another employment. there maybe a 2/3 months gap in me not working as it takes time to find another job. Of couurse I will not claim any benefits or anyh thing like that. My wife does not work
if there are employment gaps of a couple of months whilst my wife is on her settlement visa and then she applies for ILR in February 2013- will my employment gaps in 2011 come back to haunt us????
