Hi All ,
My ILR application has been successful, the appointment was at Croydon
PEO on the 4th of July 2011 at 8:30 am.
7:45: Entered the building through an airport type security
8:00 Counters in the ground floor checked my documents and passport and told me to head to the first floor .
8:15:at the first floor I paid the appropriate fees and then was told to wait on the same floor until my number was called out ,
8:45: my number was called and went in front of a huge glass window where the case worker was on the other side, took my documents and started reviewing them.
NOW I had a few issues with my documents which I will mention here so that others can prevent it from happening.
I applied on the basis of continuos employment for 5 years, I have moved two companies , working form them 2 years and 3 years respectively.
During my application I had only provided my current employers 6 month pay-slips, 3 years P60s and letter of confirmation, and for the previous employer I had just my old work permit (which was issued by home office). The other documents were the completed application form, 6 months bank statement and LIUK pass certificate.
During the appointment the case worker said my documents were not complete, I had to show some proof that I worked for my previous employer for two years, I told I have a work permit of my previous employer, but the caseworker said that the home office issued the work permit and I need to show either pay-slips or at-least p45 or any other relevant documents. It was ignorant from my side not to bring any documents of my previous employer.
Due to the lack of documents the PEO decided to withhold my passport and the documents , and printed out a letter stating that the passport has been held with the case worker and I need t provide more documents of my previous employer within 14 days by post, or the application will be invalid.
a bit worried, I rushed home and the only documents I had were my previous company's employment contract and 7 months of pay-slips. not sure if those would be enough, I called up my previous employer and arranged a meeting on the same days early evening.
during the meeting I explained the situation, and my previous employer gave me a signed letter confirming that I worked for them for 2 years with all other details like salary and job responsibilities.
The next day (5th of july) I posted all the documents to the PEO Croydon.
I was worried that my application may now fall on the queue for the Postal applications. But on the 22nd of July (after 19 days) I received my passport by Royal mail signed delivery and was happy to see that I received the ILR stamped on my passport.
Hope this helps other in similar situations, and would like to thank the forums member for their contribution on helping me out. Good luck to everyone.
Cheers
