ILR apply and maternity leave

Hello,
I am currently on Tier 1 General visa and recently got married.
As I'm full time employed, I am thinking of having a baby and take maternity leave. But due to the visa status I am not sure whether I can do that before obtaining ILR.

My queries are,

1. If I take 1 yr maternity leave during my Tier 1 visa, will it affect
my ILR application in the future? (Low income due to the leave etc...)
2. Can I apply for ILR while I am on maternity leave?

I have searched for the topic but could not find good answers.
(Is it best option to take maternity leave after obtaining ILR?)
If you know something about it please advise.

You are free to have a baby and it's lawful to have your maternity leave if you're on Tier 1 Visa. Your residential status would not be affected by having a baby or going on maternity leave. You can read through the link below:

My advise is that you find out more about maternity leave and benefits from your employer. Also, make sure you don 't take the any pregnancy grant which could be seen as recourse to public funds. Take care.
