Health issues forced Out of UK for 6 months: Tier 1

Hi all
I tried not to repeat my query, but i believe its one of a kind.
I have been on Student for the period 2006-2008 and since on Tier 1. While I was at work I was pushed down the stairs and ruptured 2 spinal discs. The slip disc pain was intolerable and I went back to India for treatment. After trying various treatments, I recovered and came back after almost 5months!

Just a week back, I successfully obtained the extension of Tier 1 visa. My question is:
If I can prove that I was away due to a serious medical condition (All medical records and scans available), is it worth consulting a solicitor to apply for my ILR once my 5yr period is completed? I will ensure I dont breach the 450days restriction.

It's 180 days for ILR under Tier 1 (but discretion is applied). You seem to have stumbled upon the naturalization requirements and have mistaken these as something that applies to your situation.

Why did you have to go to India for treatment? Was the condition you suffered from untreatable in the UK?

sushdmehta: Thanks for the response

The condition was treateable out here, but after gathering lots of information, i thought it was best for me to go back to India as I was bed prone and have no one out here to look after me (also, didnt want to pay rentals and stay out of work for long periods). When i went back to india, i was told by all spinal cord specialists that i require surgery. I didnt want to as the risks for spinal cord surgery are very high.

I found the only way to get this treated was Aryuvedic treatment, which was recommended by a friend. It worked like a miracle and helped me recover fully.
