Hi,

I'm applying ILR in July 2012 and my passport is valid till mid of December 2012.

Is it ok to send current passport with ILR application as it is less than 6 months validity remaining or i should renew it.

Can you renew you passport 1 year before of its expiry ?

There won’t be an issue. Get your ILR on your current passport and once you get your new passport, you wont even need to carry your both old and new passports as from 29th Feb 2012, UKBA is issuing Biometric Cards for ILR applications (instead of a sticker on your passport).

So you can carry that card with a valid passport.
