Toddler on Dependent, Parents on ILR

Hi all,
My wife and I got our ILR last month but we haven't got around registering our son as a British Citizen yet. He is still on a Dependent visa (valid till Nov 2012).
Would anyone know if we are free to travel to Europe and back or do we have to register him as a citizen first?
Thanks in advance.

ILR or dependant status are only applicable to the UK.

All three of you still need a valid visa to EU as Vinny mentioned; ILR only lets you stay in UK permanently.
If you register your child as a British Citizen, then he will no longer need a visa to visit anywhere in Europe, but you and your wife would still need a visit visa.

as you say he has got a dependent visa until Nov 2012 that means he is on a foreign passport and hence you can't register him as a British citizen now!
yes he can.

Thanks All,
Apologies, I re-read my first post and now see how unclear it is.
1. All 3 of us have visas to travel to Europe
2. We (parents) have ILR
3. Toddler is a dependent on my visa from when I had a Tier 1 (until Dec 2011 when we got the ILR)
I am only concerned about UK borders on our return. Is it an issue that a child is on a different visa than the parents? Is he free to return to the UK?
Hope that makes more sense.
Thanks again.

Your child is no longer the dependent of a Tier 1 migrant and therefore could be refused entry due to change of circumstances upon return to the UK, it would be harsh given the fact he is a child travelling with his parents but possible.
It would be better for you to register him as a British citizen and apply for a British passport before you travel.
