Implication of civil judgement on ILR application

Hi members, I have been reading the posts on this forum for some time now and this is my first post.
Can somebody please clarify what is the effect of a civil judgment on ILR application if the civil judgement is passed in another country ? Does it get rejected straightaway or is it on the discretion of the case worker.
I am asking this question on behalf of a friend of mine who has not a civil judgement but potentially could be and is very concerned about the implications of a civil judgement in his home country.
