Hey everyone,
I'm glad ive found this topic , albeit a bit too late
I am a bit annoyed at the amount bureaucracy an ordinary person such as myself has to put up with. its RIDICULOUS !!!
I have been continuously living in Britain for about 6 years now.
But a couple of days I have been offered a teaching job in China which I would like to accept. It is for 9 months or so.
I have NOT submitted any PR applications or anything yet. I want to become a dual citizen for 2 reasons: 1) I am a native english speaker and culturally I am not really Czech. (i obtained my czech nationality in 2005 though - my parents sorted this out as I was born outside Europe
2) 2 passports is never a bad thing!
First off, I wasnt even AWARE that I need to get PR first, before I can get a citizenship. And then when I started filling in the form for PR, it says there is an EXCEPTION for A8 nationals.. what???? Czech republic is a developed country, unlike poland so I dont get it ( but its probably because they both joined in May 2004 ,
the "exception" rule is that I was apparently supposed to apply for some Worker Registration Scheme or something??? what the heck is that supposed to be. I had NEVER heard of that, nor have i ever applied for it or needed it. Besides I was a student here most of the time (sure Ive held part time jobs but who hasnt !)
can someone PLEASE help? also is there any point in wanting a UK citizenship? I looked up countries where a UK/CZ passport can get you and they are about the same. but a British passport is better for teaching I guess . so annoying.
thank you very much and I look forward to your replies
