PR: Exercising several treaty rights at the same time

Hello,

I am an EU citizen currently in the process of applying for Permanent Residence.
I have been living in the UK for 7 years. My status in this time has changed several times, which leaves me confused as to what section my residence falls under.

I was a student for 3 years, then I began looking for work. I got several short-term internships with gaps in between. I continued looking for work by applying for positions daily. I am a designer, so I set up a self-employed business as well to improve my chances of getting work. My self-employment generated little so I depended financially on support from family, my partner and some personal savings for a while.

I have been employed for a year and a half now and this part fits nicely in the form that the Home Office require. But my situation used to be very complicated and I am worried that the Home Office will return my application because of this. I was self-employed, self-sufficient and looking for work all at the same time. The three statuses make perfect sense in real life, in fact, all three were needed to keep me afloat. But in the context of the application form, it seems like they can easily say no if I only list one status.

Could anyone advise me on how to approach my application?
Is it unlikely for it to be successful because of my complex situation?

Switching categories of qualified person is fine.
You will need unimpeachable documentary supporting evidence.

You may face 3 challenges:
1) unexplained gaps are a no-no.
2) And did you have CSI (or, at a pinch, a foreign-issued EHIC) as a student?
3) If you were self-sufficient did you again have CSI?

Suggest printing off a few copies of the PR form;
(its a bit of a monster, just print relevant sections) & practise filling them in.
