I am an EU national and I have lived in the UK for 8 years.

I submitted my application for the EU permanent residence card on February 3rd and I was promised the payment would be taken within 5 weeks.

It has now been over a month and I have not heard anything what so ever. I have to request my passport back as I am travelling on March 24th and there appears to have been 'issues' with taking the payment from my account.

I have not received a single letter from the Home Office and I only found out that there had been an error when trying to take the payment from my MP, who contacted the MP's hotline on my behalf as I was getting very worried.

My question is whether the Home Office will delete/withdraw my application if I have asked them to return my passport and they have yet to take the payment?

I always thought that the Home Office would contact me if they needed further information or if something was wrong (such as issues with the payment). In that case, can I send a cheque with the exact amount and will this be accepted, even though I have requested that they send my passport back?

I have called the Home Office every single day for a week to get my caseworker to give me a bell so that I could get an update as to why the payment has yet to be taken, but I have yet to receive a call and it has been 5 days

If anyone could help/suggest whether I should just send the cheque asap and not wait, as I am very concerned that my application will be withdrawn because I am unable to apply again for 6 months.

Hello,

I attached all my bank details and there there is nothing wrong with my account and and I checked that all the numbers were correct twice.

I subsequently learned that it is much better attaching a cheque than attaching your bank details.

However, my plan is to send a cheque today and then call my caseworker Monday morning, however would you know whether this is too late?

Can you find somehow the details of your caseworker? Also I have the same question with the topic starter. if you ask to return your passport back after 2-3 weeks of the application submission due to an upcoming trip, will this impact your application? how?

No it will not. The UKVI website says you should not ask for your documents back within 10 working days of them receiving your application. After that though, you can request them back without any problems.

I submitted my application on 10th December, asked for my passport back on the 15th January and it arrived after 4 working days.

Make sure you select NO when it asks if you want to withdraw your application.

Thank you very much for your response.

My main concern is that I have asked that my passport is returned before the payment has been taken.

I was not aware that this was a problem until my MP got back to me as the Home Office has not informed me about anything at all.

I have sent a cheque and it will get there Monday morning, but I am still very worried that my application will be withdrawn because the payment is still outstanding.

Would you know anything about this? Surely the Home Office would get in touch with me and ask me to send a cheque or send my bank details again, before deleting my application?

I also noticed that a few people have had their application rejected because they have not included proof of health insurance when they were students. I have submitted my EU/UK Health Insurance Card, is this the documentation they need?

An EHIC from the UK will not satisfy the CSI requirement, although one from your home country might if it's valid.

Hello.

I am unable to get the blue health insurance card from Denmark, where I was born, because I do not have a Danish income.

I did have a Danish EU card years ago, but it expired in 2014.

I have my NHS card, but I have never ever experienced that I needed to have a health insurance, because I am an EU citizen and therefore, the NHS is there to cover if anything should happen (also because I have paid UK taxes for the last 8 years).

What have other people done in such circumstances? I am terrified my application might be rejected because of this.

NHS cover is irrelevant in terms of exercising treaty rights. If you are a student or self sufficient, you must have comprehensive sickness insurance for that time to count towards your permanent residence qualifying period.

It doesn't matter whether you are entitled to use the NHS for free or not, or whether you have done.

No need to be terrified, worst case you lose the fee & incur some delays.
Noone is going to come & arrest you, let alone deport you.

Do some carefree student years feature in your timeline?
How long & when?

If no CSI or foreign-EHiC did you have a student RC in/before 2011?
There's a 'ta' you might invoke.

Did you have any EEA family member (parent) in UK & exercising treaty rights?
If so maybe your PR can be (partially) acquired via them as sponsor.
