Non-original documents submitted in PR application

Post by chrenrike » Sat Mar 05, 2016 12:15 pm

Hi all,

I am an EEA National - studies and work - with 6 years, no breaks in UK. I submitted my EEA PR application a few days back but for all my supporting documents, I have provided photo-copies of the originals. The only original document I enclosed with my application is my passport as I thought the authentication is something the home office can easily do with the rest docs.

Have you had any experience before with a similar case?
Any ideas in delaying or rejecting the application?
Should I call them up and clarify?

Thank you

It is considered inappropriate & rude to hijack another thread. As you are new you may not be aware.

To avoid confusion with another case, & jumbled responses, I have moved your question to its own thread (this one).

As far as I am aware, you are always expected to submit original documents and non-original documents would normally lead to your application being rejected. But maybe you get a nice caseworker who will write to you and ask you to send in the original documents later...

Thank you Lily. Do you think I should wait for them to come back to me first or send the originals asap enclosing a note to attach those to my existing application form? Are you aware of any means HO allows for accepting further supporting material?

In the EEA(PR) guide to supporting documents it does say:
Unless otherwise stated, please send original documents only. Photocopies are not acceptable. If you’re unable to send the original, please explain why. We’re unlikely to be able to approve your application without sight of the original document.
If you're lucky they might write to you asking you to send the originals. If you're super lucky they might even accept the application (although unlikely).

If not, they will simply refuse your application and you'll have to apply again.
