How to apply for somebody else outside the EEA?

Post by FMBKR » Sun Jun 19, 2016 9:51 pm

Hello everyone,

I'm writing in the hopes, that you can help us figure out what to do.

My wife and I want to apply for my father-in-law, who lives abroad (Bangladesh), and cannot access the internet as readily as we can. We have found the list of documents needed, have organised medical tests, etc, but are a little confused as to how to supply the forms.

1. Do we send the papers and certified copies to my father-in-law, to then supply to the UKBA?

2. Can we send them directly in his stead?

3. Should we fill out the online application first, or print everything out and just stick to a paper application?

4. Will he need the documents for his interview?

You can see, so many questions. We are cautious, as we don't want to make unnecessary mistakes.

I hope you can help us, or point us in the right direction.

Thank you,

Joseph

What are you/FiL applying for?

What is your/your spouse nationality?

Are you in the UK or another EU country?

The applicant has to sign the form by the way and submit the app plus documents.

Hello,

We are applying for an EEA family permit.

I'm German, my wife is Bangladeshi.

We've been living/working in the UK for over 10 years.

Thank you for help/reply.

So it's probably better if we prepare the paperwork for him, and then send everything over, so he can apply from there, right?

It's a bit confusing, as there is an option online to apply for somebody else, we thought we could apply for him in this way.

Thank you again,

Joseph

The option to apply for someone else is if you are a registered immigration advisor or a solicitor, it is not family members to do on behalf of others.
