When and how can I request my documents back for an EEA FM RC (UK based application).

I can't find the information online.

Anyone know whether it is possible to request the UK sponsor's passport back early when using the Surinder Singh paper route to EEA2 FM RC?

My new job wants me to travel, just at the same time we want to make the application!

I requested my documents after receiving my CoA and having submitted my biometrics and I did not encounter any inconvenience.
