Applying for residence card after 6 months FM

Post by AHA79 » Thu Sep 06, 2018 6:16 pm

Hi,

Just need to know when I can apply for UK residence card straight away after I got my 6 months family permit? or I've to wait for 3/4 months?

Thanks

You probably want to make sure you have some proof of address.

If you can get your name on some of the utility bills already, and register for a GP, and you already have proof that your EU family member is exercising treaty rights, then you can just apply as soon as you arrive.

Do I've right to register with a GP with 6 months family permit?

Thanks

My husband registered with our GP without any type of visa a few months ago, not even family permit. They didn’t ask.

And you have the right to work, but it will be difficult to convince employers thereof. Just apply as soon as you’re in the U.K. and have documents that prove your residency there.

We applied for EEA2 (for my dependent mother) next day after her and mine arrival to UK.

We had a temporary accommodation (for 2 months) provided by my employer (I had contract before arriving to UK), confirmed by a letter which showed both mine and her names.
So, I submitted that letter, my job contract, passports and my birth certificate, and some documents showing we lived together before we came to UK. We got her EEA2 in 6 months (exact!).

Now, we recently asked for a record of personal information for her, and it arrived with a long description about how my mother's file moved inside HO.
In particular, it appears it was initially refused base on "that applicant did not show that they live with the sponsor in UK and are dependent on them", which later was overruled (I guess by someone senior overseeing?).
Good that we did not see all that we would get very worried...
