Non EEA Right to work with Family Permit

Post by Nixxy2401 » Sun Sep 30, 2018 9:28 am

Hi everyone.
I am hoping for some assistance. My husband has applied for his EEA permit. We currently live in South Africa. Once approved, we will be immigrating to the UK, i am a dual national with Portuguese citizenship.
We will be going to the UK together and will be looking for jobs at the same time... ofcourse this means he will not be able to apply for a resident card until i have worked for 3 months atleast. So my question is om arrival can he look for work as well as soon as we both land in the UK. As i take it we both have freedom of movement for the 1st 3 months. I will be looking for work as well, however just want to knownifnhe may also start working in the first 3 months of arrival.

My case is very similar to yours. I had a lot of trouble with proving my right to work without the residence card. I'm not really sure you partner (non eea) has a right to work, but even then proving it will be difficult. People are afraid of hiring someone that doesn't have a clear proof of a right to work.

Just so you know, we applied for EEA Registration QP with an additional as an extended family member (me) BEFORE 3 months of my partner started working. We just waited her to get hers first salary paid in the bank (UK bank) and we sent the pay slip and bank statement and job contract as proof of the QP Registration.

Regards,
Sebastian
