hi

would you know why there is a 6 months expiry date on UK entry clearance. my husband was granted EEA family permit and there is a 6 month epiry date. does it mean that we have to apply again after 6 months ? i was under the impression that such a permit was for few years at least.
thanks :)

EEA family permit is granted for 6 months. Once your husband enters the UK, he has to apply for a Residence Card, which is issued for a period of 5 Year.

It is not really compulsory for him to apply, but it is advisable that he does so. This will held evidence his right to employment and other social services or security.
