EEA FP, confused and worried

I'm a Canadian citizen, my husband is a Danish citizen. We were married in February in Denmark, but have been together longer, both living together and long-distance. I'm currently in Canada because my visa for Denmark expired, my husband is still in DK, and we want to move to the UK in September/October. I've been learning as much as I can about the EEA family permit, and I thought I understood it, but now I'm terrified after reading these boards and I don't even know where to start now.
Is it really possible to apply for this visa from within the UK, and if I did so, would it hurt my chances of approval? I need to travel to Denmark first to tie up some loose ends with our old flat, but we're flexible on when we travel - we have not set a date yet. I've read the FAQ, but the link to the Border Force Operations Manual is dead. Would I have to tell them right at the border that I'm joining my husband (who I'd be travelling with), or would I seek out an immigration office later?
If that's not possible, I'd have to travel down to one of the WorldBridge mobile centres and have my biometric information taken, and apply online (or through the WorldBridge service) from Canada, correct? In that case, making the application as soon as possible would be in my benefit, right? The problem is we don't know when we want to leave Denmark yet, and are unsure of how long we'd stay - at least 6 months.
I'm really frightened now, and I'm probably over-complicating it for myself. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
