I have a parent who has a visitors visa for multiple entry to the Uk.

After exercising treaty rights is it reasonable to just return to the Uk and apply for a residence permit or should we look to apply for a family permit.

What is the best way.

So, you are on about Surinder singh or?
You need to show dependancy on yourself (financial etc)

if your parent can enter the uk on their visa, there is no reason to apply for the eea fp. - it is just an entry visa, which she already has. It may be worth noting to the IO that she is entering as the dependant family member of an EEA national

see the Singh FAQ for documentation - but also note that you need to record that the parent was actually dependant on you and lived as part of your household in the other eea country.

We are looking to go to Ireland to demonstrate British citizen exercising treaty rights, I guess after s Singh route and dependency.

Can you please explain over what period does dependency has to be demonstrated.

If we return without my parent having a FP or 1a permit then I guess there is nothing to demonstrate rights to work, etc for her. Not that is something she would want to or is able to. Or is this something too trivial that I should concern my self with.

One other thing in regard dependency how far back are the previous records considered.

dependancy needs to be shown to be a fact...

I would say that it should be for as long as the singh route goes on - at least.
(so if you live in the EEA for three months, then at least three months)

Somebodies family has been in ireland for seven months, and got refused.

show regular transfers etc and get as much dependancy evidence as possible.

(IE: as you say shes not able to work... then perhaps doctors records could help etc - whilst not strictly necessary.)
