PR for EEA resident in the UK

Hello , I'm approaching 5 years since arriving at the UK and wanted to know what's the procedure to apply for PR and which documents I need to provide?
Is it just to fill in a form?
As far as I'm aware, EEA residents don't need to pay any fees for PR, is that correct?

Incorrect. Sadly not anymore Jersey

Yeah that's quite sad, but what can you do? we have to pay.
In terms of documents, do they really check it strictly? what happens if you are out of work for a couple of months? what can you show them as evidence of job seeking? email confirmation of interviews?

yes they check every documents with a magnifying glass
how long out of work? yes as long you can show proof that you are looking for work ( emails, rejection emails or letters )

Sent my application at end of December, got it earlier this week, in 5-6 weeks in total, quite quick I think.
