Retention of Rights : Permanent Residence Card - Travel?

I have received brilliant news this morning when I received an envelope from the UKBA with my "Residence Document". Now I am slightly confused and need clarrification.
I am a Non-EU National, been issued Permanent Residence Card that is valid for 10 years. I will be applying for British Citizenship in about a year's time.
My question now is, I would really like to book a holiday to Europe for a few days but I am not sure if I can travel without a Visa. Do I need to apply for one, if so, would it be free as it is under EU Law or can someone point me in the right direction?

this is from French consulate website
Great Britain HAS NOT signed the Schengen Agreement. Therefore, even if you hold a permanent or temporary residency permit to reside in the UK, you may still need a visa in order to enter the Schengen zone.

Definitely not as accompanying/joining to eea partner is mandatory to fulfill the criteria under article 10 for eea2 rc holders and article 20 for eea4 pr holders. But the link you provided is not relevant because from op post its not clear that is he visa national and what country he want to visit.
