Hello,

Can the one in the know share their knowledge and experience; which European country will be the easiest to get visa for from Pakistan for the spouse of a British national who got married in Pakistan to a Pakistani national. The objective will be to later on follow the Surinder Singh route after 3 months stay in that country.

Has anyone applied to the Spanish, Greece or Romanian embassies in Pakistan for such a visa?

Thank you

Yes I know one of my friend apply for Spain from Islamabad. But will be good if you apply for Ireland ( English speaking country ) easy to find job etc..

Also try Malta it's quicker and easy. If you want then we can talk about that in detail

the Surinder Singh route after 3 months stay in that country.
You will need more than 3 months stay to use the Surinder Singh route. You have to prove that you have 'moved the centre of your life' to the member state for at least 6 to 12 months.

Where did you derive the guidance about that.

I will be interested to see it.

And also based on advice seen provided by other mods/gurus but cannot off the top of my head think at the moment and I suppose the advice is to err on the side of caution rather than haste and get it right.

Obie, having found this post, page 15 where yourself and Vinny contributed, I understand that UK is being looked at regarding this issue but not sure if this has been concluded as yet as can't find any recent information on this.

Char i was not trying to catch you out or anything. It just that i genuinely thought that they had put up a guidance saying a person has to have resided for a period of 6-12 months to meet the Centre of Life test.

The last guidance i say from them does not seem to indicate 6-12 months, but you may be right, that the require something like that.

Home Office are very tricky people.

No worries, just all so confusing and the constant need to play catch up with HO changes is like a full time job. Guess it is too much to ask of HO to keep things simple eh??

I have seen a number of regular contributors on the EEA forum advise at least six months as a minimum, which to me would make sense if you think 'centre of life' otherwise it does just appear to be a ruse to circumvent the UK immigration rules (in the same sort way FLR(O) and FLR(FP) is abused to buy time).
