Surinder Singh Route (Germany v/s Ireland)

Hello Everyone,

Can anyone please share their thoughts on this.

My wife wish to exercise EU rights and go to Germany. And she wish to bring her daughter (21 +) from Non-EU country.

1) Can anyone tell me what documentary evidence needs to be submitted to show dependency to secure the visa under EC directive from the Non-EU Country.

2) Secondly I have seen people using the Surinder Singh route, but mainly the country they choose is Ireland. Can anyone tell me how it is different from other EU countries like Germany. Is it more of an easier option ?

3) Thirdly if anyone can share their successful experience of Surinder Singh route via Germany, then that would be of great help.

Thanks

1: 'Wholly and Mainly dependant' - i think the UK takes that as meaning financial in most cases.

2: They speak English! Remember most people who use this route are just using it because they don't qualify under UK rules, they are not really interested in any particular State or it's culture.

3: Nothing for me.

Is your wife a British Citizen?

1) She have been remitting money to her account regularly for maintenance, You reckon that would be enough to secure the intial EC Directive Visa from the Non-EU country?

She is going to be, pretty soon.

Also I have read somewhere in the forum, that if you exercise your rights from Germany or Estonia, then you don't have to get the the Family Permit. Please correct me if am wrong ?

You've been misinformed. A family permit is required in both cases.

Thanks Casa.

Lastly, can you please share your thoughts whether an EU based citizen brother can exercise the Surinder Singh route for his + 21 years old dependent non- EU based sister ?

Is dependancy wholly or mainly or just a few quid?

I don't know the technical jargon of dependency but let me explain in layman terms. She relies 100 % on the financial assistance.

That's not answering the question - what percent of the dependants total income is provided by the EEA citizen?

It's 100 %. What impact will it have?
