suspension from duties becouse falling to produce the relevant right to work documentation

Hello everyone

when I come to work manager ask me to provide ID/passport to chcek if I have right to work here. I dont understand why I am from slovakia its eea country I have expired ID and I have aplication for passport in embassy of slovak republic in london so my valid passport will be isued within 3 months. I have full uk driving licence, birth certificate and expired photo id, work permision from home office as well national insurance card and I am employed there for 7 years on full time and also I was not outside uk last 3 years. Should I be worry about my suspension from pay? how long I can be suspended from work? they told me there will be another investigation and I have to stay to be in touch from monday to friday in office working hours. suspension is not disciplinary action against you and will not shown on your disciplinary record, you will continue to receive your basic salary...Should I contact human resorces?

If you have a British driving license where your nationality is displayed and an insurance number this should be enough to prove your right of work in the uk.

thanks for reply.. on my upcoming meeting which was not set yet i will show all what I have and will let you know how it is with me, I am geting paid but its still not very well feeling to be home

Why are they expecting you to hold a valid ID or passport? As per this guidance they can accept expired documents as long as you are recognisable in the photograph:

I showed my employer my expired ID card and they accepted it without issues.

Moreover, if you have been employed there for 7 years, then there is also no requirement for your employers to recheck your documents.

Think of this as a paid holiday!
