Dual Citizen (German/South African) Eligibility

Hi guys,

I'm really hoping I can get some clarity on this.

My boyfriend and I are in the process of applying for a family permit. He is South African, and I have dual nationality - German and South African.

Will having dual nationality affect my eligibility to sponsor him to join me in the UK when I exercise my treaty rights?

I'm not sure whether to just apply as a German citizen alone - but then I'm concerned that they'll question why there's no visa/stamp in my German passport, versus handing in both passports at the risk that we may get denied.

Any thoughts/ideas?
Thanks!

Dual (triple etc) nationality - no issue in UK; (unless you're British too).

What visa/stamp do you think is missing from your German passport?
A visa for UK? why would you even need one if you're German?

What visa/stamp do you think is missing from your German passport? Exit stamp from South Africa. The OP is not allowed to exit SA on a foreign passport if they are a SA citizen. It is illegal.
A visa for UK? why would you even need one if you're German? Think OP is asking about the EEA FP for partner.

Germany allows dual nationality in many cases. I am German but also have two other citizenships, no issue at all. It depends which citizenship it is and/or how one got their other citizenship(s)...

You can use your EEA nationality to sponsor him, the fact that you also have another citizenship is not an issue. It would only be an issue if you were also a British citizen...which you are not, so all is good.

Thanks guys.

CR001 is spot on with regards to what I was meaning - I was worried about only handing in a German passport, which may alert authorities because 'how is she living in South Africa if there are no entry/exit stamps in her passport'.

I have German citizenship from birth which is one of the ways in which you can legally get dual citizenship if you're German.

Thanks for the help - I'll definitely include the fact that I'm a dual passport holder in the application - just to be safe. :)
