I'm looking for some experience or advice on the above topic. I came to the UK with an FP a few years ago and now have my EEA passport, albeit less than 2 years old. I'm looking to apply for my non eea dad to join me permanently in the UK as he is elderly and ill. There are no siblings or close relatives to look after him in my country of origin, and i learned recently that he'd been hand to mouth, and had kept this from all of us.

Question - in putting thru an FP request, can we argue physical as well as financial dependency? We've sent very little money in the past as we were not aware he had financial trouble and his doctors have stated that his quality of life has been impaired due to recent illness.

Has anyone here been succesful with this type of application and can therefore offer some advice?

When you say you came with an FP, were you the spouse of an EU citizen?

Your EEA passport you say you have, is this a specific EU country or a British passport?

Yes, i have a German passport and both my husband and I live and work here

How much support do you provide?

How long have you done this for?

I provide enough for basic needs, a little each month, and only recently has the extent and nature of his illness come to light. The doctor says he's not being looked after properly and this is key to his recovery. He's visited the UK and other countries several times in the past and his records at the home office will show we lived in the same house for over 2 decades. He's also be divorced for at least 3 decades. I'll look up that story.

He also has a british visiting visa with lots of years left in it. Is it advisable for him to come and visit and then apply for an RC from here?

That's one way to enter UK.

The risk is that if the RC application fails then parent will be unlikely to be able to use or renew the visit visa again (having declared an intention to settle).
