Surely HO should send some sort of confirmation that they have received the application?? With a reference number to that application? Otherwise how we are supposed to check the progress of our applications? I sent mine 2 weeks ago and still waiting on a letter from HO.

Acknowledgements are not guaranteed.
There is nothing in EU Directive about issuing acknowledgements.

And there is no automated checking system so how do you expect to use any reference to check progress?
HO don't entertain inquiries until after 6 months;
even if you call you only get to a callcentre with limited information and not through to any caseworker.

Well I actually read on this forum that people applying for PR receiver confirmation letter or an email from HO?
Those posts are from 2015 so unless the rules have changed since then we still should receive something from HO

They are not guaranteed.
Some people get them, some don't. That's nothing new.

It proves and means nothing.
Agonising over whether HO sends an acknowledgement or opens your bundle or moves it from one place to another etc etc is pointless.

The processing simply takes as long as it takes without rhyme or reason.

Well I received confirmation email yesterday. Maybe I am one of the "lucky" ones then. They have me reference number and a telephone contact to check the progress

They won't give you any update on the progress of the application unless it runs over the 6 month target
