Hello All,

This is my 1st post here and if it is not in the right place please move it.
I have searched the forum but have not came across a definite answer.

Could someone please advise in what time I can get my passport back once the permanent residence application is sent in?

1. I am planning to send the application tomorrow (both passport + national ID card)
2. Traveling to Japan end of March where I obviously will need my passport
3. Is it enough time to request my passport back from HO?
4. Will requesting my passport back affect the application in any way?

If you are EEA why not use the new council document checking service and keep hold of passport.

Should I state under "Which identity document will you supply?" that I will provide a National ID card instead of Passport?

Presumably state which ever one you plan to submit.
Even if passport it is certified in some way and you keep original.

Great ok. I was a bit new to this application process.

I have now filled out the online application, paid and if I understand correctly I can now use the "European passport return service" where I need to book an appointment and take copies of all documents there rather than sending them to HO via post.

Is my thinking correct?

Hello All,

I would like to ask for your advice to iron last thing on my form for a permanent resident card.

After a kind suggestion to use the online application form I will be providing my documents tomorrow at the local European Passports Return service.

Me being a qualified person I am including my wife in the application.
Now my question is:
1. Does she also need to meet all requirements as a QP (5 years, work/self-employed, etc.)?
2. Application form does not state this clearly - Do I need to provide all documents from her side as well, or should I just send the marriage certificate, proof of living together and proof of arriving in UK?
3. During her stay in UK there was a mix of 'self-sufficient' + some temp work and now self-employment - do we need to provide all of that as well?
4. All in all does the rule of 'as many documents as possible' apply here? I am worried that when the HO receives a ton of documents will they make sense of it all?

1) If wife is EEA she may apply in own right if she as a qualified person or else as your dependent if you have the stronger case.
In that case (as your family member) wife does not neeed to be a qp.

2) See PR guidance.
Do not apply without reading that!

3) See #1.

If a qp prove: id, residence in UK (absences within limits) plus exercise of treaty rights.

If a FM: prove id, your relationship, plus residence/absences and sponsor's exercise of treaty rights.

4) Caseworkers do this every day.
But it helps if you are organised.

Again read guidance.
You can be failed due to lack of adequate supporting evidence.
