Immigration Status

I hold a Swedish (EEA) passport and American. I've been living in the UK and working the past two years under my EEA passport. A couple of weeks ago my partner applied for a partner visa and to do so we had to send in my Swedish passport with his application. I have to travel the next couple weeks and leave the country. I don't have my Swedish passport back yet, so I am wondering if I can leave the UK on my American passport and enter it again? I am also wondering if this would change my immigration status as I'm entering with a non EEA passport. Please help. The only other option is for me to get an emergency Swedish passport each time I leave the country which is very expensive.

Do you have a Swedish identity card? You can enter the UK with a Swedish identity card, though it can take longer at the airport/border control check point.
