Travelling with my Biometric

Hi guys
Basically I've booked a holiday with my friends to go away, I've lived in uk for more than 10 years and I go to university pretty much lived in the U.K. My whole life but only have a biometrics card. My card is expirying soon but due to renew it, I was wondering if I can travel with it still? What are the chances I'll get detained at the airport as I am traveling by myself with no family?
