Hi All,

I hope you would be able to help me to clarify one point to which I cannot find any response in Google :-)
I am EU National married to UK Citizen and I applied for Residence Card in June 2016. As travelers by heart we left our jobs in September 2016 and went off traveling around South East Asia.
In the meantime Home Office were reviewing my application and I received my Residence Card in October 2016.
We returned to UK in July 2017 which means I was outside UK for over 9 months..
Based on the above I am wondering when I can apply for a Citizenship?? Do you think that even thou I have a Residence Card would I have to live in the UK for a continuous period of three years before applying?

Thank you so much for your help :-)
:D
Regards,
Adam

"...you must usually also have:

• lived in the UK for at least the 3 years before your application is received
• spent no more than 270 days outside the UK in those 3 years
• spent no more than 90 days outside the UK in the last 12 months"

No, you cannot apply.

How many days exactly have you been absent from the UK in the past 3 years ?
You will have to wait at least a year if in the past 3 years you only left the UK for South Africa have been away just under 270 days.

(I'm not a lawyer, I just read the website)
