Hi Guys,
I have applied for my PR beginning of July and have my confirmation email and reference number from HO. Awaiting Biometrics enrolment which should be done within the next 1-2 weeks.
I would like to travel around Oct/Nov time.
Am I able to request my passport back, does this delay application and then would I just send my passport back after I come back from my travels?
Not very clear where or how I do this. I know it is possible if you are EU Citizen but not sure if non-EEA.
Any guidance would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

You can request your passport back after biometrics.
Have you received your biometric enrolment letter?

No not as yet, was going to do that first! Just worried it will delay application and then wondering how I send the passport back to them. Just feel a bit nervous about it!

You don't return passport to HO. They will request it from you if they need it.

Thank you! Surely they would need it back from me to stamp my Permanent Residence in?

You get a card - a plastic card.

Oh really?? How did I not know this! So if I request my passport back and all is fine after biometrics then Permanent Residence is given to you in the form of a card separate to your passport? I thought it would be stamped in!!

They stopped issuing PR cards as vignettes in the passport some time ago. One of the reasons you're giving biometrics is so that the info can be encoded onto the PR card that you will be issued.

Ahhh right. Why don't they then send our passports back anyway then if they don't need them after Biometrics. Oh I love the Home Office
