Irish husband, Thai wife planning for the EEA Family Permit

Hi everyone,
I am a 24 year old certified healthcare assistant with an Irish driving licence. My only citizenship is Irish and my wife is a Thai national with a bachelors in hotel reception with 3 years of experience in a 5 star hotel. We are hopefuly we can both find work fairly quickly, me in a nursing home and her in a Thai restaurant or hotel.
We have 9k pound in savings and would like to immigrate to England using the EEA Family Permit.
The permit seems fairly straight forward but we don't know if we should get a solicitor to help us with our application. If anyone has experience or advice we would greatly appreciate it.

Kind regards,
Darragh & Thanwarin

Are you both currently in Thailand?

It should be straight forward, assuming she doesn't get a ridiculous refusal.

Yes, we're both in Thailand. We are reasonably good with paper work, do you think we should try applying ourselves first? Or play it safe and get an expert to help (I got a quote for 450 pound for his service).

Try it yourself first. It's a free application. Read the linked topics to see what problems some applicants had and how they overcame them.
