EEA2 extension or PR

Hi All,

I am currently on a 5 year EEA2 residence card (obtained through my EU spouse) which will expire in March 2019. None of our circumstances have changed (she applied for EEA1 at the time of my application), both working full time and intend to live in the UK for at least another 4-5 years.

Please could you help with my concerns regarding the renewal of my visa?

1. Please is it possible to extend my current EEA2 visa again, before this actually expires? If yes, is there a time limit to how early you can apply for renewal?

2. I believe I am not currently eligible to apply for the Permanent Residence card as 5 year period required will be satisfied in March 2019 (when my EEA permit will expire!). Is it possible for me to apply for the PR before the 5 year period is reached?

I would like to plan ahead and understand the quickest and most practical way of renewing the visa,in particular considering potential changes to existing processes due to Brexit.

Thank you very much!

RL

How do you relate with your spouse... when did you and your spouse come to U.K.?

Hi Cam123,

I came in to the UK 8 years ago on a student visa. On EEA2 visa since March 2014.

My has been living in the UK since July 2012.

Thanks!
Rommie

You can apply for PR at your fifth marriage anniversary provided your wife been qualified during that period (from marriage till fifth marriage anniversary)

Also your PR time start from the date of marriage, not from the date of your Residence card issue date.

Hi All,

Following from the above discussion, I was told that you could potentially also consider time lived together before getting married to build up the 5 year period required for the PR. For example, 6 months that we lived together in the UK, before getting married in the UK and 4.5 years of married time.

Is this correct, please?

Thanks!

Only if you had a EEA residence card as an extended family member (unmarried partner) for that period as far as I am aware.
