Hi I have been an asylum seeker for a few years and I have just made my application under the Chen EU Settlement Scheme route I would like to ask a few questions
1)when i receive the COA can I request for my passport back from Home office to be able to find work even if the decision of my current application has not been out yet ?
2)when I get my decision will I be able to claim mainstream benefits?

I am not much of an immigration or benefit specialist ..but DWP did put changes in place concerning benefits...
You should check their website regarding claimants who have settled or presettled status
They can only give a person with deravative rights if your child is in education ....thats more like from reception
Unless you would want to claim benefits in your own rights not connected to your child and for that you would need to meet a certain criteria
Go through their web page for guidance
I believe after you do biometrics you would be issued a COA which you can use to get work...in my own case my passport came back with the letter requesting i do biometrics and the COA followed a week later ..best of luck
