Hello Guys,
Situation :
My spouse is neither the EEA national nor british citizen. But she got the settled status in uk and residence card. Unfortunately , while we were on holidays back home , we notices that the residence card has been expired. So she couldn't fly back to UK with expired residence card. In this case i have talked with home office here in uk to make the urgent travel document but they said contact british embassy or consulate back home. We did , but both embassy and consulate told us they issue travel document just for the british citizen which she is not yet british citizen.

IN THIS CASE,
Can i make travel document from home office for my wife ? if YES , how and where to go ?
some ppl also said i need to apply for EUSS family permit back home.
im in big confusion.
WHAT TO DO ?
Please help me out with the right suggestion.

Regards

How did she get settled status, are you an EEA national?
Maybe this thread has a similar situation and will be of interest.

Thanks
The case is kind of similar. I guess the Euss family permit is the best option than the replacement residence card to enter the UK.
Isnt it?
Regards

If I understand your situation correctly (she already has settled status), travel permit ( https://www.gov.uk/euss-travel-permit ) would be the right option.

You are confusing travel document, which is the document that confirms your identity and nationality (a passport) with visa/residence card/family travel permit, which is the document that confirms your right to enter/stay in a given country. Hence, why the British Embassy say they can only issue a "travel document" (a British passport) to a British citizen.

What she needs is not a travel document, but a visa/residence card/family travel permit.

As said above, in her case, she needs a Travel Permit.

And OBVIOUSLY, to travel back she needs her own travel document (her foreign passport) AND her travel permit (which I assume would be a sticker on her passport).

Thanks very much for your kind suggestions
Recently (9 march 2022 )we have applied EUSS family permit.
So i guess family permit is the best option.
How long it will be to get the decision |?
any idea???
