My friends spouse has sadly passed away suddenly and I dont know what will happen to my friend, I dont want to ask him right now as he is grieving. He applied for EEA family visa earlier this year and I dont think he has yet had it confirmed.

What might happen to him now if he decides he wants to try and stay in UK?

If your friend has been in the UK for at least a year as a family member of a qualified person, then he may have retained the right of residence.

Might even qualify for Permanent Residence if the EEA national had resided in the UK for 2 years as a qualified person before the death or the death was due to accident at work.
