As an Irish national, you just need to get on an airplane (or ship) and come to the UK. You can start work the same day.

Your non EU spouse can apply for an EEA Family Permit from the British Embassy. With that they can also work immediately on arrival in the UK. After you (the EU citizen) are working in the UK, they can apply for a Residence Card.

Should be quick, easy and free!
