Working before receiving my BRP (Tier 1)

Hello,
Just to share with everyone my timeline. I applied inside the UK
16th July: Completed stage 1 application online and Tech Nation portal
24th July: Received URN number
14th August: Received my endorsement letter from the endorsement body with positive result
Due to a planned trip, I wasn't able to apply straightaway. I submitted my application as soon as I returned. I paid for priority service and I got the decision letter within 5 working days.
I've been waiting for my BRP but today is the 8th working day and I haven't received anything. I'm going to start a new role on the 2nd October so I'm a bit worried.
My question is: can I start my new job before receiving my BRP.
I know that if you applied outside of the UK, you can show employers your temporary visa sticker.
I am currently on Tier 2.
