How to find a first job here?

It's around 3-4 months how I had started to look for a job here. Originally from Moscow, Russia, I have got 9 years experience of work at a bank and education of bachelor.But... after every phone interview I got refusals. I don't think that I have problems with my English but as I understand I have wrond vision of banking and sales at the UK. To be honest, I am tired and desperate to find a job here. I applied for receptionists, legal cashiers, trainee sailers, customer advicers, finance assistances, etr etr etr. How you found a first job?

I have looked at your other posts and see that your husband is British and you are in the UK on a 2-year spouse visa. That is important because it confirms your ability to work in the UK without the employer needing to get a Work Permit for you.

It can be difficult to get that first job. Maybe, in the first instance, try to get any office job, and do not worry particularly if it is in Banking. As regards Banking, whilst I have no knowledge of this, I suspect that the way the Russian banking system works may be a bit different from the way the banking system works in the UK.

Or what about translating and/or interpreting skills?

As regards my wife, she moved to the UK from Thailand on a spouse visa over 6 years ago. Initially she went to a language college and further improved her already good English ability. But then she applied to that same college offering to teach Thai language! After all she had been a teacher in Thailand before she moved here. Did she see an advertisement? No not at all, she simply wrote asking if they needed a Thai language tutor, and luckily the answer was "yes"!

So for you, possibly find out what companies are importing and/or exporting to Russia, and write and ask if they have any vacancies. In other words, don't simply reply to adverts ... be proactive! Your knowledge not just of the Russian language but also the Russian banking system could well mean that you have skills that could be rather useful!

Well in my experience Russian banking system is pretty pathetic and most Russians do not trust banks so maybe it's cultural thing?

I'm afraid in UK it's a case of Russian=dodgy at the moment, not good.
